Royal offers Roo support

Reading defender Michael Duberry insists he's not to blame for Wayne Rooney's latest injury.

Medical scans confirmed the Reds striker could be missing for up to two months after suffering a hairline fracture of his left foot. Rooney sustained the blow when Duberry appeared to tread on the England star's foot just before half time in United's 0-0 draw on Sunday.

"It was a complete accident," the Royals defender said.

"I hope and wish him all the best and the most speedy of recoveries, not just for Manchester United's sake but for England's too.

"He has already been through the trauma of injury and I know myself what it is like. To be hurt in the first game of the season is even more disappointing and now he is facing the long haul of rehabilitation."

Duberry, a former Chelsea player, said he's not spoken with Rooney directly but has passed on his best wishes via Rio Ferdinand.
